Canada is emerging from an unprecedented capital recession. (RBC)

The renewed interest comes after a decade of weak business investment, stalling productivity, and stagnating living standards. Between 2015 and 2024, more than $1 trillion of investment exited Canada—the largest capital exodus in Canadian history. For every dollar of inward FDI, two dollars exited.

One thing I find very sad about Canadians in general is that many people don't act or see anything until an authoritative source like RBC says it. Everyone with a brain who lived in 2015 knew at that time Canada was failing and many Canadians today will pretend they only saw it recently and that Carney will save us.

You know what RBC's recommendation is? Canada needs to invest in O&G. That's their recommendation. Another obvious thing back in 2015 and something even to this day, many Canadians don't want.

This country and its people are so pathetic.

I always get a kick out of studies like these. Bunch of guys say the most obvious thing over 20 pages with tables, graphs and nice matching color schemes with some three letter designations by their name and all of a sudden it's ground breaking work. Nah, it's common sense.
