Carney announces that he has designated a pipeline as a project of national interest. That means construction potentially can start in 6 years.

What a joke. It's not even approved and the approval process could shelf the whole project. 6 years to start construction, at best. And it's in the National Interest? What a joke. Yet, Canadians are celebrating this as Carney doing something? Doing something is starting the project now without consultations then tidying up the paperwork after it has been fully constructed.

Ah there it is. Just in time for the Alberta referendum on October 17. Every pundit and politician is going to point to this pipeline and say that it’s a major deal, Ottawa is changed, things are going to be different.

Somewhere is the fine print that this pipe is contingent on the Pathways carbon capture system, which itself is a $20Billion boondoggle which will never get built.
