The BC Liberals suspended their last campaign and supported the BC Conservatives. This is why the BC Conservatives even became relevant. That means the party is currently a mixture of Red Conservatives and Blue Conservatives.
Reading between the lines, it sounds like the Red Conservatives aka Liberals inside the party had some dirt on Kerry-Lynne and she decided she didn't want to go to battle. Kerry-Lynne ran on lowering taxes, cutting government regulatory bloat and improving parental rights over their children in healthcare and education (specifically targeting Trans issues but not explicitly mentioning them).
The Red Conservatives would have been against parental rights initiatives, lowering taxes and reducing government regulations so they would have opposed her at every opportunity and threatened her unless she capitulated to their demands. This is why she mentions "listening to the voters is important" in her speech because she essentially had a mandate to do those things which is why she was voted in but the Red Liberals don't care what the people want. She unfortunately still thinks these Red Liberals can be reasoned with and doesn't see them as enemies that need to be exterminated. She still has faith in democracy and trust that other people are acting in good-faith (they aren't).
I think her stepping down is a good thing. The party needs a White Man who will go to war with Red Conservatives and anyone left of far-right. She doesn't have the balls for what needs to be done. There's a good chance though that the Conservatives in BC will just become the Liberals and nothing will change for the better though. The "Parental Rights" issue is EXTREMELY unpopular in BC because the vast majority of BC people are Elbows Up boomers who hate their kids and the trooned out victims of a generation of parents who hated their kids. It's a dead issue she should have never have campaigned on. She was a huge champion of it in the Con Party. Everyone sees "Parental Rights" as equivalent to Daniel Smith which means it's Donald Trump and Authoritarian NAZIS! Better to just run on popular issues, then defund education and implement some subsidy for home-schooling. For all I know, the Blue Cons told her this and she disagreed which meant everyone went to war with her. Campaigning at the provincial level on parental rights would have destroyed the party.
