Boomers. It's that simple. They filter these polls so that the result reflects the sentiments of "likely voters," and since the voting rate is so much lower among younger people, who recognize that voting doesn't fucking matter in this country, you're left with a result that reflects Boomer biases.
The more Carney feeds the smug, self-righteous anti-Americanism that is the lifeblood of the white Canadian Boomer, while Poilievre flounders by trying to talk tough while also being conciliatory, the more the Boomer vote will drift towards Carney. He's selling the Boomer fantasy of a Canada that can exist independently of the US, and the less realistic it becomes, the more the Boomers cling to it.
