Petition to repeal DRIPA approved by Elections BC

A petition seeking to repeal British Columbia's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act has been approved by Elections BC, according to BC Conservative MLA Harman Bhangu.

For the initiative to move forward and ultimately be considered by the Legislative Assembly, supporters must collect signatures from at least 10 per cent of registered voters in each of B.C.’s 93 electoral districts.
The petition campaign is scheduled to open on Oct. 26 and signatures must be submitted to Elections BC by Jan. 25, 2027.

Elections BC said the petition application was approved in principle. The petition which includes a draft bill will be issued on Monday, Oct. 26. Signature sheets must be submitted to Elections BC by Monday, Jan. 25. To be eligible to sign the petition, an individual must be a registered voter in British Columbia as of Oct. 26.

BC Conservative Leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay said she supports the petition effort and encouraged British Columbians to sign it.
The B.C. Conservatives said the Premier David Eby ‘caved’ to activists and that the act jeopardizes property rights.

In April, the provincial government said it would not try to amend or suspend DRIPA.

The cons sure fucked up electing Findlay. 6 con mla's have left in last two weeks and on election night the cons had 44 seats, now only 31 and with a new centre right party but not as right as cons apparently the Gumby led NDP will win another term and if this DRIPA vote somehow passes (and somehow get required signatures in first place) Gumby and NDP will find another angle to give the feathers the province.

I will be signing this anyways.
 
Nah, the Cons are still ok under Findley. They almost won the election by just 200 votes. Pretty sure the NDP had to cheat to pull off the victory.

People hate the NDP so much, you could run a dog as a Conservative candidate and it would probably win. People are voting for the party, not the person in this case.

Findley is just purging the traitorous former liberal members who are actively trying to sabatoge this party. The voters aren't falling for the msn rhetoric and paid nay-sayers. All these new independents are in for a rude awakening come election day.

in my local district people were burning campaign signs and tearing down fliers. Some guy shot up a local bulletin board with a shotty. The energy was real
