how's your summer going so far, in spite of all the things the government tries to do to ruin our lives...doing anything good or just treading water?

things are shitacular here, but we've been out paddling a few times so far, so thats def nice to get my head out of my ass and look around at the trees, rocks and water. hoping to get up to algonquin before winter, but i'll want to time it for after thankstaking so its less infested than at this time of year.

My poor old cat is still alive and she is very sweet and I love her very much.

Summer has been too hot and humid and going far too fast.

Just got back from vacation the end of last week, took the kids and a friend to the zoo on the weekend.

Work has slowed down dramatically due to the US economy being absolute dog shit and everyone being broke. I work in management for a US company and it is brutal down there.

Just been trying to survive, just about debt free which is nice. Just been enjoying the time with the family before the oldest goes back to school and doing lots of reading in my spare time.

Not much time for golf this summer, been too humid for me to enjoy it sadly.

if i recall, we are almost neighbours...the humidity has been almost unbearable here, esp for work...its killing me and making me homicidal. hopefully you'll get some golf time in before the snow hits.

Been busier than a one legged man at an ass kicking contest. But we’re both gainfully employed still, making the mortgage payments and gearing up to lumpsum the nearly $7K property tax payment coming up.

No good news, but no bad news. I’ll take it. And monarch caterpillars all over the property.

Things are good. Spending as much time as possible at our fixer-upper acreage. Not doing as much fixing on the house as I been doing lots outside. We have lots of trees and caraganas so, lots of trimming, tree felling and general cleanup. So far I have taken down 7 Boxelder Maples, aka Manitoba Maples with more to follow. We definitely don't have a lack of firewood.

Bought myself some new toys to get stuff done, the coolest one being a mini-excavator. I've done so much with that machine, I don't have time to tell you all about it. Pulling stumps, levelling and grading, transplanting caraganas, dug a burn pit, to name a few.

We expaned our garden this year. It's roughly 30ft x 60ft. We got roughly 10 inches of rain in June and that gave it a good start. Then, we had a couple of weeks of severe heat in July and it really took off. We haven't had much rain since June so, we've been watering from a well we found on the property after we bought the place. A couple of things didn't grow that well but, the stuff that is growing is doing really well.

So, in the grand scheme of things, a decent summer, so far and it isn't over ,yet.

I confess that I was laid off late last year. Survived since then, and kept my head above water. New job starts tomorrow.

Also had to call 911 for the first time this morning - got flagged down by some people who found a lost child. He was promptly reunited with his mom.
