Canadian households grew their net worth by 5.3 per cent over the course of 2025, reaching a record $1.08 million on average per household.

I own 2 houses. Combined, they aren't worth half of that. Not in my part of the country, at least.

Obviously the stats are overinflated by Vancouver+, Toronto+ and Montreal+ that makeup like 1/2 of the Canadian population. If you live anywhere else, there's no way the average wealth is $1m except MAYBE Calgary and only now since covid when prices inflated there.

I live in an undesirable rural area, and I’d be lucky if my house attracted even a quarter of that. However, I am completely debt-free, a concept most Canadians don’t seem to understand.
