Indian temple where 20,000 black rats are worshipped and regularly fed sugar and rum

It seems like a thing of internet legend, but an Indian temple devoted to the black rat not only exists, but remains a popular site of Hindu pilgrimage.
Karni Mata Temple in the Indian state of Rajasthan, plays host to 20,000 black rats, who live within the temple’s various nooks and crannies.

The rats, regarded as the reincarnated sons of Hindu sage Karni Mata, are allowed to roam free across the temple floor and steps, and are treated to daily offerings of coconut, sugar and rum.
