16 year old Social Media ban? Adults will be locked out of Social Media unitl they hand over an ID.

I don't think its a good thing to have to send ID to social media companies but also, does anyone else have zero social media? I have an account for youtube but that is just to subscribe to channels and keep things organized. I had a facebook when it came out in 2006 (I also had a myspace before that lol) but I only ever made a handful of posts and deleted that old facebook account in like 2014 or so.

If I never logged into that youtube account again it would not be any big problem, the algorithm would recommend me videos from the channels I like anyways.

Again, you should never have to give your ID or phone number to anyone or any company or government to access the internet, that's some iranian level shit, but also if you are someone who spends lots of time on social media this would be the best opportunity to reduce/get off social media, delete old social media accounts and not bother with gay tok tok shit or twitterX debates with retarded people.

In fact you may not have a choice if you like to post what is actually on your mind and enjoy freedom of speech. The only reason to demand everyone's ID to post online is so they can easily link any post you make back to you so they can send the gestapo to arrest you on fake "hate crime" charges, and even if they cant throw you in jail they will bankrupt you through lawfare and slander you to get a mob against you.

Maybe its time to learn how to spray paint memes onto actual walls out in normal space. Reminds me of the old idea from a decade ago "If they kick us off cyberspace then invade normal space".

You don’t even need a Youtube account, you can subscribe to channels with RSS.

There’s honestly no point in using any of this digital crack. All it does is distract you from what’s really important in life.
I think Facebook to keep up with family and a handful of Youtube videos is good enough for me.

I watched my 17 year old son using some app that requires age authentication. He recorded his own face and it said he was 42. He tries it again on the dog and apparently the dog is 36.

I have never been successfully locked out of anything. This to me is just a continuation of the high school computer Nazis that got all pissed off with me because I installed the first GTA on all the computers.

Come on over here son let Dad help you break your first law.

Everyone knows this is the beginning of digital ID and the control grid that follows. The law change in Brazil and California have already forced Windows, iOS and some Linux distributions to begin collecting age verification information.

Support Linux distributions that resist the age verification API!

Several Linux distributions have taken a firm stand against implementing age verification requirements, often citing privacy concerns and the architectural incompatibility of open-source models with such mandates. Artix Linux has issued the clearest refusal, stating they will "NEVER require any verification or identification from the user." Ageless Linux, a Debian fork created explicitly as an act of civil disobedience, declares "intentional noncompliance" with laws like California's AB 1043 and even distributes hardware designed to bypass these checks.
MX Linux and Zorin OS have also publicly rejected age verification, with Zorin's team stating they will not implement it under any circumstances despite being based on Ubuntu. Other projects like Garuda Linux, Parrot OS, and Void Linux have made community notices or developer statements opposing mandatory age checks. Meanwhile, Arch Linux and Debian face structural impossibility in complying due to their lack of centralized user accounts or mandatory download infrastructure, though some corporate-backed projects like Ubuntu and Fedora are exploring optional, local API implementations to meet legal requirements without telemetry.
Distribution Stance on Age Verification Key Details
Artix Linux Firm Refusal "NEVER require any verification"; systemd-free Arch derivative.
Ageless Linux Intentional Noncompliance Created as protest; publishes scripts to remove age checks from other distros.
MX Linux Resisting Explicitly rejects age-gating; does not use systemd.
Zorin OS Refuses Compliance Developer statement confirms no implementation regardless of upstream changes.
Garuda Linux No Age Verification Community notice opposes mandatory checks; Arch-based.
Parrot OS Against Verification Community posts oppose mandatory age verification for access.
Void Linux Developer Statement Independent distro without systemd; opposes verification.
Arch Linux Architecturally Impossible No accounts system; global mirrors make enforcement unfeasible.
Debian Opposed/Resisting Internal policy discussions resist integration; fully decentralized.
Ubuntu/Canonical Exploring Compliance Reviewing legislation; considering optional local APIs (D-Bus).
Fedora Exploring Compliance Investigating local /etc file solutions for age brackets.
Some projects have gone further by blocking users from specific regions; MidnightBSD updated its license to exclude California residents, and Arch Linux 32 blocked all Brazilian IP addresses following Brazil's ECA Digital law. While corporate-backed entities like System76 (Pop!_OS) and elementary OS are looking into compliance to avoid app store restrictions, the broader open-source community remains divided between those seeking technical workarounds and those refusing to participate in age surveillance.

As much as you are right, no non-dev will use Linux if your selling features need a wall of jargon to announce the benefits. It doesn’t make sense to the average person. Just like crypto, It’s too complicated, and Canadians are retarded.

@dagthegnome I'd recommend Zorin, it's the most windows like I believe.

Also Garuda Linux is beautiful and has GUI functions for many options that are terminal only in other distros.

Linux has come a long way in terms of user friendliness in the last few years.

There must be a way to circumvent this that doesn’t require much technical knowledge. This will absolutely start innocent enough (protect the kids!) and inch it’s way toward biometric, pay with your chip style Digital ID.

Don't forget digital currencies as well. After that, smart cities / 15 minute cities, at which point it will be too late.

Yea the best way is for people to not use the sites and they basically evaporate from zero traffic.

It can inch its way towards who fucking cares. All the population needs to do is abandon “insert tech here” and the problem goes away.

Remember the prison they are setting up is mutually agreed upon everytime you use the service provided

Meh lie deny accuse

Honestly world wide governments making it harder to reach online left wing echo chambers and propaganda pedo sites. 16 year old age limit?

How is this bad? Tell your kids its too complicated to use and go outside to make friends.

Age verification measures are an obvious precursor to needing a digital ID to access any websites that are deemed to be capable of hosting "adult content". How long before you'll need to prove your age to look at FCW, if this site is deemed to be unsafe for minors?
