Preview of this weekend’s NDP convention, it’s as crazy as you think.

i looked through a few clips of the convention this morning . it is hard to believe these are real people and a lot of them are in academia and the unions. they are the dregs of society and are advocating for the other dregs of society . these are the kids who got shoved in to a locker and they are advocating for the junkies, foreigners and pedophiles . this is no long (and hasnt been for a long time) a working mans party . i am willing to bet my paycheck that at least half of the attendence are on some form of disabilty . they all have every single booster and most of them probably suffer from long covid . these are the people we use to lobotomize and send to the sanitarium

Hook up a generator to Layton spinning in his grave - that would put nuclear to shame.

I did not agree with the guys ideas but damn I don't remember him being bat shit insane. Dude would look like hardcore right winger at this point.

Layton died before I could legally vote (I was 16 at the time), and what I recall from casual observation and my effing awesome social studies class at the time… he would not be welcome in the NDP today, full stop.

The left is completely cooked? This NDP shit show is a dream for the Libs.

I wish my Father in Law was still with us. Back in the day, he was a high ranking member of the NDP government in SK under Allan Blakeney. Over the years he became more conservative and we had conversations about how today's NDP wasn't remotely the same as when he was in the party. He left us 2.5 years ago and this is, seemingly, beyond what the NDP was even then. This is absolutely absurd and I would love to hear what he would have to say about this. As has been pointed out by others, this would be comical if it wasn't so fucked up, although, that's what makes it comical.

My father-in-law was a higher-up in the NDP as well, but despite his being born before WWII I never heard him speaking out against any of the most egregious woke nonsense -- I think his attitude was that anything that was bad for Western society, no matter how ridiculous it was, was good for the cause of Marxist revolution, so if (for example) trannies undermine the "patriarchy" or the nuclear family or even just the idea of objective reality then they must be promoted

Yeah, a lot of communists want to destroy Western society because they see the West as representing capitalism, which they hate. Of course, the aspects of capitalism they hate that are legitimately problems are the jewish aspects. Ironically, both the right and left want to bring Western society down to rebuild something better but for completely different reasons. Horseshoe theory, lol.

@CaptainTrouble So the left really hate jews so the NDP said all right lets back a jew to run the party. my god this is so funny. we eating good boys lets enjoy it cause we won't be eating at all once liberals are running the whole show and make us all poorer.

OTTAWA — As the federal NDP crowns Avi Lewis as their new leader, Canadian Jewish groups are expressing concern.

Lewis, a self-described “anti-Zionist Jewish person,” handily won on the first ballot during the party’s convention over the weekend, beating out a slate of candidates to succeed former party leader Jagmeet Singh.

Singh resigned nearly a year ago after overseeing one of the worst election outings for the federal NDP — losing 18 seats, including his own in Burnaby Central — and costing his party official party status in the House of Commons.

Lewis election a ‘painful rupture’

A statement from the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) called Lewis’ election as leader a “painful rupture” decades in the making.

“This weekend’s convention was a stark reminder of how far the party has drifted from its roots as the voice of Canada’s working class and trade union movement,” the statement read. “Canadian Jews helped build that movement. Today, many are made to feel they no longer belong in it.”

NDP name is turning into poison boys. Fun as shit to see but man this means we're getting Liberals for the next 12 god damn years.

Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi moved quickly to distance himself and the provincial party from his freshly chosen federal counterpart Sunday.

Avi Lewis, a divisive left-wing firebrand, handily defeated four others to win the federal party leadership with well over half of the 71,000 votes cast. Edmonton-Strathcona MP Heather McPherson finished second.

“It is clear that the direction of the federal party under this new leader, someone who openly cheered for the defeat of the Alberta NDP government, is not in the interests of Alberta,” Nenshi said.

Lewis, an outspoken opponent of fossil fuel development, rankled NDP supporters in Alberta after an old video of him and his wife, Naomi Klein, laughing over former Lethbridge MLA Shannon Phillips losing her cabinet post surfaced earlier this month.

Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck is distancing her party from newly elected federal NDP leader Avi Lewis, saying she will not meet with him unless he changes his stance on natural resource development.

Lewis won the federal leadership in a decisive victory at the party’s convention in Winnipeg.

The new federal leader has proposed a major transition away from fossil fuels, including a Green New Deal‑style plan that calls for spending two per cent of Canada’s GDP on sustainable jobs, providing heat pumps and expanding electrified public transit.

He also opposes any new fossil‑fuel development.
