The legion is willing to partially fund the crosswalk:

The legion is willing to allocate a minimum of $3,000 towards the crosswalk installation, the total cost depending on what is used. One with the same type of paint the city uses for other crosswalks is estimated to cost $10,000 to install, and another $4,600 per repainting.(I wonder if the Pride Committee partially funds their pride crosswalk?)

(The city has no problem considering to spend money on surveillance cameras at the pride crosswalk, tho)

The currently installed pride crosswalk cost is triple compared to the Veterans crosswalk:

Alternatively, use of methyl methacrylate, the same material used for the downtown Pride Crosswalk, is estimated to cost $30,000-plus to install, with subsequent repaints costing $10,000 each.

(I wonder if the Pride Committee partially funds the pride crosswalk?)

This Councillor is really hoping there's an "easier" way to recognize the veterans:

The proposed crosswalk design, however, was a concern for Wallace Richmond, who said she’d like to proceed with one “that is easier to implement but still meets the message and the intention of their request.”

(I wonder if there's an easier way to recognize the gays, too?)

This Councillor thinks they should only use flags:

Coun. Debbie Cannon, however, pushed for a reconsideration of crosswalk alternatives.
“It’s not going to be there for very long before it doesn’t look as good… I really think that when you look at the costs, that we should really be looking at the flags…,” said Cannon.

(I wonder if the Councillor thinks that the gays should only use flags, too?)

How about we ban veteran and cistern ass flag sidewalks. Waste of everyone's money. If someone wants to donate a veteran sidewalk to the city to celebrate veterans, then great. Shouldn't be done with tax payer dollars.
