More than 400 people poured in to Oval Park in Lumby Sunday, Feb. 1, to catch the fifth annual Lumby Outhouse Races.
Rules for the event are strict.

The outhouse frame must be built of wood, wood products, metal, or, as the race poster says, “anything you would be comfortable having a private moment in.” The sturdier and more creative the frame, the better.

The commode must be mounted on two skis or wooden boards, or whatever the team thinks will slide over snow. Push bars on the side must be 2×4 only, and can’t extend more than two feet beyond the outhouse.

Frame has to be at least three-sided and four-feet high from the ground. They can’t have motor or steering devices and, the most important rule of all, the johns must be equipped with a toilet seat/bucket/seating apparatus.

Some of the outhouses added accessories such as calendars, magazines, and coffee mugs.

Man, you gotta love seeing it! Even if it's not your thing.
