Damn, she really was a beautiful girl. Apparently she was passed around Hollywood to a level even beyond the usual depravity, hence her shapeshift. Her eyes in that photo show abject fear.

RIP Ellen.

It's just easier that way.

I remember years ago hearing the host of the CBC radio news gleefully announcing that "Elliot Page has come out as transgender!" and I thought, well who the fuck is that? The name "Ellen" wasn't mentioned even once, even though she had built her entire career under it

The elbows up boomers and their new found plastic patriotism is maddening. It’s depressing to think of this country and where it’s at.

So I've been thinking about this. I think we have to be careful about blaming boomers. I get that they voted for governments that got us into this situation, but it wasn't their generation that actually did anything, they just benefited, and while it was happening things probably looked pretty rosy and not like things today, so no impetus to fight about it.

I look around today, and wonder what I can do to. Make the future better for my kids. Sure I can petition, write letters to MPs or protest but we all know this affects change in a very minimal way. What do we do to effect real change?

Certainly if the west separated I'd be heading out that way. Trying to find a better life.

What could the boomers or our current generation do to fight back so that we don't get looked back on the way we are looking at the Boomers now? I guarantee the ways things are going that my kids will look back at our current life as better than their situation whenit comes to be their time.

So what do?

I should clarify, by elbows up boomers, I’m referring to anyone that suddenly found their patriotism in the wake of the trade war. Over the past 10 years, there was significant overlap with this crowd, and the same people that considered Canada to be a genocidal settler state. More then anything, I am pissed off with the masses of ideologically adrift, who go from cause to cause as the media directs them. The rah rah Canada will be dropped as soon as the next thing comes along and the intellectual zombies shuffle to the next opinion.

So to answer your question - what do? I don’t have a fucking clue.

Hook your kids up as best you can. When they turn 16 teach them to drive instead of telling them to stay the fuck away from your car. For that matter any skills you have should be passed on to them ASAP

Use nepotism to your advantage instead of telling them to figure it out on their own. Treat your kids like they are a part of your clan instead of the competition. People bitch about boomers for financial reasons but their major sin was having kids and effectively booting them out into the world without so much as a fuck you very much.

@BeerAndOil yeah that's a fair answer, and to your credit. You did say the elbows up boomers my bad for not reading more carefully.

The goal is divide. And conquer. The plebs fight each other so we don't fight the ones at the top. Man vs woman, black vs white vs brown, old vs young etc.

i had a kid from Jordan as a tenant at one time, he was maybe 18 or 19 at the time and we talked about a lot of things. He came to the realization on his own that in his country whenever the population was coming together against the ruling class, a special football match was put on by rival teams that roughly divided the country in half so they would again focus on each. Other rather than the important issues within their Country. It was quite the epiphany for him. I wish more people would figure out the game here...

Acknowledgement and support. That's what we can offer that boomers lack. Boomers fails to acknowledge the problems and fail to support their family/friends who're most affected by the problems. Instead, boomers believe their success is entirely through their own actions and believe any complaint a non-boomer might have is because of a deficiency in the individual instead of systemic dynamics.

As long as we acknowledge the problems and support people who face these challenges without gloating in the advantages we had and blaming those who faced worse situations on the younger generations, we should be fine.

Honestly, it means fuck all to me.

I will break out the Red Ensign, wave it proudly about town on my day off.

Canada is done as a country, we need Wexit yesterday.

Best I can do is try to set my children up for success when they are adults and I am not here, which feels near hopeless currently.
