Surrey is a diverse community with numerous faiths, religions and beliefs – if a public school chooses to accommodate and celebrate one faith, then they must do all – and if that’s the case then students would never learn as it would be an endless holiday.

There should be no religion of any kind in Surrey and B.C. public schools. Those who do want this can choose from the numerous faith-based schools that exist for this reason.

The news that Johnson Heights students get to “embrace” the Muslim Ramadan surely means that next year the Christian kids can observe Lent, joined by their Muslim schoolmates. And the Jewish kids can now observe Hanukkah.

Who knows, maybe we’ll even see “Christmas Concerts” return to displace the “Winter Festival” events so ubiquitous these days.

Firstly I think there should be only one public school system (Ontario has two, we don't need a Catholic system) and secondly I believe Canada was founded as a Christian nation so any religion in schools should be the Christian. Get rid of the Roman Catholic board, get rid of Ramadan, bring back the Lord's Prayer in school, and Parliament.

Second letter is from a (((Feldman))) (oh my gawd).

Let's get real here, we're talking Muslim and Hindu bullshit like Ramadan and Diwali, nothing else will be recognized.

Shouldn't what children learn in public schools be a reflection of the public? We're a diverse nation! The children should be encouraged - nay, forced! - to learn about those they share a country with!
And you, as parents, should take it upon yourselves to pick up the slack whenever possible! Teach them how to wear a turban! Teach them how to subvert their host nation! Teach them how to mix common household chemicals for IEDs!
If we all work together, we can ensure our future generations know from an early age why they should hate each other.
