So I didn't feel like cooking last night so I decided oh I'll stop at five guys my wife loves hamburgers is one of her favorite foods. I park and stroll my ass up to the counter I'm waiting for the people in front of me.

Thank God I was delayed before I ordered because I looked at the price of a burger and I always get the bacon cheeseburger with cheese bacon ketchup mayo and two patties that shit was 14 fucking dollars.

So I turn my ass around and left. What was crazy was the fact it was fucking packed. Is this why everyone's in fucking debt so they can live this false lifestyle buying really overpriced expensive ass food.

I went home got some fucking ground beef out of the freezer and had some fucking tacos.

Seriously though why are people spending this kind of money? is this why everyone's in debt so much in this country and just continues to be a slave?

Five Guys was always more expensive than other fast food restaurants. They charge $7 for just fries. Add a burger and a drink to it and you pay $30 at checkout.
 
It was never that bad in the past. I can handle the $7 for the fries they give you a freaking bag full. The burger I used to always get used to be $10. So me and the wife could eat there for like 30 bucks then it was 35 then I guess 40 and it's like now fuck you you're out your damn mind.

Shit from Domino's I can order medium $8 pizzas. That's far far cheaper you need way more food. I'll spend 45 bucks and I can eat that shit for 3 days and that's what delivery and tip.
 
I don’t think I’ve gone to a restaurant or fast food joint of any kind since COVID. I have a job that pays well and I still can’t justify it. How the typical wagie manages to pay for their goyslop, booze, and circuses I will never know.
 
Easy: they don't save. And as much as people on here are going to shit on me for saying it, they're right not to.

The Zoomer approach to money is based on the financial environment they've grown up in, where every dollar they make will be worth noticeably less the longer they hold on to it. If you can buy a meal for $15 dollars now, but a month from now that same meal will cost you $18, then why would you save the $15?

Doesn't matter how much money you save when everything is doing that. Bank that $15 and save up to buy a house: doesn't matter. By the time your savings and the interest on them have built up to the $50 000 down payment you need for a two-bedroom semi,, it's going to be $80 000 if not more. Why would Zoomers save money when it's going to be worthless by the time they have enough to actually buy anything worth having? Better to spend it all right now on stuff they enjoy.

It's not their fault: we did this to them.
 
The funny thing is I can afford it but the thing is my ass has been broke for most of my life. Unless it's something I really want or I feel good a good value I have a hard time spending money anymore.

Like tonight for dinner I'm cooking a skirt steak if I cook it right that fucker will feed us for 2 days. It was only $35.
 
If you know where to shop,

$60 is enough to get beef, cheese, lettuce/tomato, condiments, buns, a bag of potatoes, a 2L bottle of pop/whatever and even some peanut oil

I think I made 8 burgers with that and also had cheese, condiments, potatoes and oil left over for next time.

Add in a couple bucks worth of energy to make it at home and it's about $7.25 per person for a meal. Wifey has the fry-making down to a science, they are almost as good as the five guys ones and 1/10th the price!
 
The thing is about living in Calgary areas you can get some really nice beef products for some fair prices and it's really good quality. There's a lot of farm butchers but you just got to know where to find them.

You know your beef is going to be really good cuz it was only in the field last week.

One place I go to outside or Red deer is really nice you stop at the meat place and about a hundred yards you see the future product walking in the field.

It's called the Angus store well worth dropping in as long as I got stuff they sell out pretty quick.

As far as burgers go nothing beats a good simple smash Burger. Get that 80/20 normal ground beef oh they're so good and so quick and so easy to make so cheap because the patties are small but they fill you up.
 
We do pork/beef burgers when we make them at home since we prefer that mixture.

We got 28 burgers made last night from two slabs of ground pork/beef mixture that were on sale for about $11 each. So $22ish for 28 burgers.

We of course have our own spices we add in when making them.

I went to McDonald's for the first time in years a few weeks ago and it was $60 for a quarter pounder, big Mac and two big Mac meals. Insanity. The big Mac is not big in anyway shape or form.

Who the hell eats out anymore.
 
If you're a fat ass like me (not really - I eat garbage but walk like 15km a day) you can use Uber eats app to get 2 for 1. Ends up being around $19 including tax (pickup) for 2x 5 guy burgers (double patty ones). Whenever it's offered I usually just eat that and call it a day lol. I can't come close to making a burger as good so it's worth it for me.
 
Oh yeah another thing burns my ass you're going it's all fucking God damn browns skin workers they seem like they're nice and they all speak English but I'm just sick of seeing it.

The one near me seems to like the Filipinos at least it's not the Indians. Well maybe there's one or two I'm in there I can't remember I think there was.
 
God help you when you have to go down the 'ethnic food' aisles. It's like a grocery store ghetto.
 
Yeah Safeway has them . I will be honest a Safeway next to me though you want to go there because their unionized and there's no fucking Indian workers. Yes it cost more but I will deal with it cuz my God I went to Walmart tonight and I feels like going to a third world country and fuck was it noisy.

I try to avoid Walmart like the fucking plague. I mean God damn if you want to import workers who are good workers will work for cheap fucking import Filipinos at least they're quiet and keep to themselves and most times Christian and not scam artist or criminals.
