Anybody else get absolutely ANNIHILATED with property taxes this year?

I live in a small rural municapility in Alberta and mine went up $700. Usually only goes up $100.

Our neighbours went up nearly $2000 to $4600 a year on a $300k house.

Personally, I see this as more Agenda 2030 sustainable development bullshit… doing everything they can to move the rurals to various urban hellscapes.

I’m assuming you mean property taxes, and yes, from 2021 to my latest bill for 2026 has increased 30%. The spending at the municipal level is out of control.

Yeah, my bad. That is disgusting. And there’s nothing that can be done, which is the worst part.

In my municipality no one seems outraged. Elections come in October and I’ll be voting for a new council.

Just got my reassessment notice and my assessed property value is up 7% in two years. My property tax has become a pain point. I try to take comfort that at least I’m not paying for homeless strategies and city water main replacement.

I pay over 1.3% and some change on a assessed value of 650k. Fuck me I guess.

Nope, but my property value only increased by one percent plus I can now claim disability for my husband which takes almost a grand off of it. You bet I’m milking the system to the best of my ability or should I say disability ahahahahahaaha

Mine have basically increased by $100 a year as an average since I’ve owned a home. However, the increases are getting bigger as the capital spending goes berzerk. Our water bill is essentially just another property tax now, its fees go up every year.

Gotta build more water infrastructure for more jeet hives in the new developments!
