Seems like USMCA is saved. Wonder where the US government will find the $175 billion they have to pay back ...

Dude always said they had a backup plan if this would happen. This is the 2,500,000th time Trump has been stopped, but he wins in the end. I don't have ADHD, so I'll wait and see what happens. By the way, they said he can't do them under emergency measures, not that he can't do them at all. They even said he can stop trade altogether if he wants.

Yeah don't think your out of the woods just yet. This just means he cant use International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose them. About a third of the tariffs he has imposed are still in affect and you can bet your bottom dollar that tariffs affected by this decision will be reimpose using a different means. The court also did not touch upon repayment methods and is leaving it up to a lower court.

No, fuck facts this is an own on the orange man. He’ll just do what the Democrats do pass the same thing, give it a different filing number, and the court battle starts all over again. Biden did the same thing with student loan forgiveness. Court said you can't do it he did it anyway.

@NinkIt may get even worse. They said the man can stop trade if he wants, so I guess he could just say, “OK Canada, I’m lowering the amount of goods you can send to the U.S. by 20%. thats even worse for Canada.

I want him to just play hard ball at this point. no time to waste he can so ok no tariffs but say %50 of trade is done. They said he has the power to stop trade. That may even be worse for other country's.

His administration has already signaled intent to reimpose or replace invalidated tariffs using alternative authorities (such as those that validate the 1/3 of tariffs not invalidated over IEEPA's emergency powers)

@Nink But orange man is dumb. I mean, he’s rich, married to a model, had a successful TV show, and has been president twice when the media and everyone else tried to stop him. He’s dumb he’s just very lucky.

@brutana_dilewski I think he does want to do what’s right, but he’s in a shitty, dirty system. Same as us we want to do what’s right, but the system is so messed up that there isn’t much we can do as individuals. They tried to kill the man twice and he got shot trying to push back on the system.

Yeah, I used law A illegally. Now let me use law B illegally. And if that doesn't works, let me use law C illegally.

Oh go back to sleep. 1/3 of the tariffs he's put in place have not been ruled unconstitutional (or illegal for that matter). Expect the new approach to mirror the justifications for those tariffs not affected. Now what?

@Hirudinea: The Constitution is an outdated racist document invented centuries ago by white slaveowners and which should be abolished, except when a conservative politician enacts a policy we don't like in which case he's attacking the Constitution and it should be defended at all costs

RightOfSaskNothing to do with USMCA stop being a retarded cdn you can do better.

The ruling is that he can't use the IEEPA to impose tariffs in order to leverage foreign governments on policy matters. However, the constitution explicitly gives the President the authority to impose reciprocal tariffs to remedy trade imbalances.

And guess what, when the Liberals and the CBC tell you that we don't have a trade imbalance with the US, they're fucking lying too you. Canada is actually one of the least likely countries to benefit from any kind of tariff relief as a result of this ruling.

but orange man bad so he will say some nasty words to the court and move on. I swear the left have be be the dumbest fucks walking the planet they will want trump to lose even if it's something that helps them just to own orange man. Shit I hate carney but if that fucker does something that helps me great not going to wish it fails to spite the guy.

damn trump chill out a bit homie. even I got to say he is doing this just to prove he can do it. I don't like knee jerk reactions. I don't care who is doing it.

So they said Trump, if he wants, can outright cancel trade with other countries. Could he say, Okay, no fees, but I’m blocking 20% of your imports to the U.S. If he can cancel trade itself, can he limit a percentage of trade? I know he’s probably just going to keep the tariffs in place under a different justification.

I have an idea. He should use the US Navy for a sea blockade of the US.

To show you how ridiculous the opinion is, the Court said that I’m not allowed to charge even $1 DOLLAR to any Country under IEEPA, I assume to protect other Countries, not the United States which they should be interested in protecting — But I am allowed to cut off any and all Trade or Business with that same Country, even imposing a Foreign Country destroying embargo, and do anything else I want to do to them — How nonsensical is that? They are saying that I have the absolute right to license, but not the right to charge a license fee. What license has ever been issued without the right to charge a fee? But now the Court has given me the unquestioned right to ban all sorts of things from coming into our Country, a much more powerful Right than many people thought we had.

Our Country is the “HOTTEST” anywhere in the World, but now, I am going in a different direction, which is even stronger than our original choice. As Justice Kavanaugh wrote in his Dissent:

“Although I firmly disagree with the Court's holding today, the decision might not substantially constrain a President's ability to order tariffs going forward. That is because numerous other federal statutes authorize the President to impose tariffs and might justify most (if not all) of the tariffs issued in this case...Those statutes include, for example, the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 (Section 232); the Trade Act of 1974 (Sections 122, 201, and 301); and the Tariff Act of 1930 (Section 338).”

Thank you Justice Kavanaugh!

In actuality, while I am sure they did not mean to do so, the Supreme Court’s decision today made a President’s ability to both regulate Trade, and impose TARIFFS, more powerful and crystal clear, rather than less. There will no longer be any doubt, and the Income coming in, and the protection of our Companies and Country, will actually increase because of this decision. Based on longstanding Law and Hundreds of Victories to the contrary, the Supreme Court did not overrule TARIFFS, they merely overruled a particular use of IEEPA TARIFFS. The ability to block, embargo, restrict, license, or impose any other condition on a Foreign Country’s ability to conduct Trade with the United States under IEEPA, has been fully confirmed by this decision. In order to protect our Country, a President can actually charge more TARIFFS than I was charging in the past under the various other TARIFF authorities, which have also been confirmed, and fully allowed.

Therefore, effective immediately, all National Security TARIFFS, Section 232 and existing Section 301 TARIFFS, remain in place, and in full force and effect. Today I will sign an Order to impose a 10% GLOBAL TARIFF, under Section 122, over and above our normal TARIFFS already being charged, and we are also initiating several Section 301 and other Investigations to protect our Country from unfair Trading practices. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

@Hirudinea
There were already laws in place that he could use, and there always were. The way they handled it just made the process easier and quicker. This ruling wasn’t about allowing tariffs at all, which many people seem to think it was about how they were implemented. He can still do it.

That said, simply raising everything by 10% across the board feels excessive. Pulling out your dick is one thing, but it would be better to ease off a bit and keep things as they are for now. I'm fine with chilling out if other countries are trying to make deals in good faith. Now Canada fuck Canada destroy them bastards.

Chaos negotiation has always been his style he’s talked about that approach before, even in the book he wrote back in the 1980s.

Don't worry, Trump will ignore this. Frankly unless I see different in the coming days this is a nothing burger with fuck all special sauce and who gives a shit fries.

It is if you read the ruling, they tell him he can still do this, but he needs to do it under a different law. They basically said, You can’t do it this way, but here are three other ways you can do it. its just news so they can talk about trump and say he lost something. Mind you he is still mad he lost even in the end he wins.
