On Wednesday afternoon, the RCMP identified the shooter in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., as an 18-year-old transgender woman who lived in the small community and had a history of mental-health issues.
But before the shooter was even identified, speculation around their gender identity was proliferating across social media.
Since the RCMP, in an emergency alert on Tuesday, described the shooter as a “female in a dress with brown hair,” prominent American right-wing influencers, social-media accounts and Reddit communities quickly spread and amplified anti-trans rhetoric.
On X, Elon Musk reacted to and shared several posts to his 234 million followers that falsely claimed trans people are the most likely to commit mass shootings.
LibsofTikTok, an American far-right, anti-LGBTQ account with more than 4.6 million followers on X, has posted several transphobic messages and reposted derogatory memes. Daily Wire commentator Matt Walsh and Andy Ngo, a commentator and editor of the Canadian conservative news website The Post Millennial, have also posted inflammatory comments that villainize the shooter’s gender identity. In replies to these posts, users posted photos of trans people unrelated to the shooting.
Some in the trans community are concerned the online vitriol could lead to further stigmatization and a rise in anti-trans violence.
“The unfortunate reality is that there’s this targeted misinformation campaign that’s been unfolding for years,” said Tre’vell Anderson, the executive director of the U.S.-based Trans Journalists Association.

The RCMP and politicos spread false information all the time. People trying to find information are not to blame. The authorities should not provide false information creating the problem they are lamenting about. The media also are to blame as they are not trust worthy.

The www forced the authorities to reveal shooter was Trans. They should thank the good people.

Last 9 mass shootings have been from a trans shooter that is a fact. The trannies deserve what they get from this. All Trans should be looked as a potential shooter and treated as terrorists

@RightOfSask because i am more reputable then u i shall let u go first. U made it a big deal so why not research. Prepare to be humbled oh and do it in a reverse clock wise order. Thats the other way the clock normally goes. Start with current tranny and work backwards

Well, so no sources then. I already researched it.

The curren one in BC, the shooting in Minneapolis in August 2025, Nashville March 2023, Colorado Springs November 2022.

The guy who did the Uvalde shooting wasn't trans, the girl who shot up the Abundant Life Christian School wasn't trans, same goes for the guy from the shooting at Winder, Georgia. There are also a bunch of shootings at schools with majority black students like Heidelberg and Leland, Mississippi. None of them were trans.

So now you're free to list your the last nine shootings with trans perpetrators.

(November 2022): Authorities say he wasnt trans officially but its is very apparent he was very comfortable in drag

Highlands Ranch, Colorado (May 2019): One of the two shooters at STEM School Highlands Ranch was a transgender youth.

Aberdeen, Maryland (September 2018): A transgender woman killed three people at a Rite Aid distribution centre.

Lmao. I listed all of them.in my post, you just copy and pasted them. You truly cannot read. And these are not the "last nine shootings" that happened. There are dozens in between those with "normal" people shooting places up.
